On June 13, 2013, attorneys, staff, and summer associates from the New York office partnered with Habitat for Humanity in Breezy Point, New York. A neighborhood located on the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens, Breezy Point was severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy. The small community is located on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean, just southeast of Manhattan, and many of its residents lost their homes in the 2012 storm. The team from Habitat for Humanity explained that the destruction in Breezy Point was caused not only by water, but also by an electrical fire that raged in the seaside neighborhood during the storm. The Summers were excited to have the opportunity to help rebuild the Queens community.
