What led you to practice in your practice group?
I decided to become a litigator because I enjoy problem solving and advocating on behalf of others. I anticipated that a career as a litigator would ensure that I would always be challenged intellectually and that has certainly proven true.
What do you enjoy most about practicing in your practice group?
I most enjoy being able to assist my clients resolve a dispute in the most strategic, beneficial and cost-efficient way possible so that the client can refocus its attention on its business, rather than litigation. Practicing litigation also allows me to come up with creative solutions and strategies to better serve my clients’ needs.
What do you wish you would have known when you first started practicing?
The knowledge base of your colleagues is impressive as everyone has had different experiences and opportunities. Open dialogue with colleagues about your cases is critical to ensure that you are providing your clients with well-rounded, thoughtful advice.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced in your practice in the last two years?
Providing superior legal services in a cost efficient manner. There is fundamental tension between every lawyer’s inner-perfectionist and the amount that a client is willing to pay for legal services. Clients demand excellent work, but also are increasingly cost sensitive. I have had to work hard to provide excellent work product and creative, winning legal arguments at a reasonable cost to the client.
